Wealth Concentration, Income Concentration, and Ups & Downs in Consumer Spending

It occurs to me that if more of us had more money in our pockets and our portfolios, consumer spending might not be so seriously affected when the economy catches a cold.

But then again, if we shared justly among ourselves that which ought to be shared among all of us, the economy might not catch cold so much and would be pretty well inoculated against pneumonia.
