I wonder whether we might be able to spare some of the thousands of shipping containers that are accumulating near America's port cities to create temporary shelter for some of the people displaced by the devastation which the earthquake and poor construction standards have created.
The containers aren't being used for their intended purpose, and aren't likely to be required for a while. They are stacked quite high near the port of Newark, NJ, and likely at other ports as well.
