I'm looking at the proposed signs on the website for the rally to be held in Washington DC this pre-election weekend, and suspect that the rally might be an interesting gathering:
- I understand the difference between communism, fascism and socialism and don't use the terms interchangeably.
- My political views cannot be summarized in a pithy sign.
- I understand you disagree with my point of view. I'm okay with that.
- Real patriots can handle a difference in opinion
- One of us or perhaps neither of us may be right.
- Probably not trying to destroy America (a photo of a smiling Barack Obama, arms folded, with the capitol dome in the background)
- I wouldn't presume to tell God who he hates
- You may have a point, but all the shouting makes it difficult to understand you.
- I prefer facts, nuance, intellectual debate. I'm probably not a 'real' American.
- I disagree with you, but I'm pretty sure you're not Hitler. (graphic: a yellow frownie face)
- Death to Nobody
- Facts are not decided by how many people believe them. Truth is not determined by how loudly it is shouted.
- It you only recite talking points, how can we have a conversation?
- It could be worse, but let's not make it that way.
- Signs are an impractical medium for civil discourse.
- I have considered the fact that I might be WRONG ... have you?
- _____ are comparable to the Nazis: A) Democrats; B) Republicans; C) Presidents I dislike; D) People I dislike; E) Nazis
- No one is Hitler
- Let's respect each other!
- Dare to be Lucid (drawing of Jon Stewart with some rally slogans)
- I'm pretty sure that none of us like paying taxes, but I do understand that they support societal needs.
- I'm pretty sure that none of us likes laying taxes, but it seems reasonable, considering the services that they provide.
- America! Love it or ... attempt to improve it using the mechansims laid out in our Constitution
- Taxation With Representation pays for the Fire Department
- Correctly Spelled Slogan
It should be an interesting day! (But I don't think I'd want to be on the NJTP, particularly at the rest areas, before or after!)
