It will provide you new lenses through which to view many of our most serious problems and how we might go about solving them: poverty, sprawl, long commutes, despoilation of the environment, housing affordability, wealth concentration, income concentration, concentration of power, low wages, etc. Read it online, or in hardcopy.

The Land Questions: #22 -- Infrastructure and Land Values

22. The creation of a new subway line raises the land values near each of the stations. Who should reap the benefit?

A. People who own homes there

B. People who own businesses there

C. People who own land there, whether or not there is a highest-and-best-use building on it

D. Corporations who own land there

E. Universities and other private landholders who own land there

F. Foreign corporations and private equity funds who own land there

G. Pension funds and sovereign wealth funds who own land there

H. The community as a whole, since the community paid for it
